I cleared several musou modes in DW5 today such as Sima Yi's and Cao Ren's. Sima Yi is my second character to be totally maxxed out and powered up in DW5....

I tried to get Pang Tong's 4th weapon. You need to kill Wu Tugu before a task force bites the dust. Sounded pretty simple. But Wu Tugu was being the biggest fucking TURTLE I've ever seen, and they died before I could kill him. I've never seen an enemy in DW block so much as so well in my life. That bastard! I'll try again later.

I forgot to mention that I got a new high score in Lumines a couple days ago, unlocking some more new skins. This time, I got the high score without that cheap 10,000 point bonus right at the beginning.

The Family Guy with the Willy Wonka parody is on now. It's probably the best episode I've seen of the show.

I spent about two hours drawing a picture, and still didn't complete it. It's not even half done.

Plus, part of what I did draw needs to be revised, because the guy's head is way too big.

What a shitty game.

I agree. I just couldn't get into that one.

Last night, I reached the Imperial City in Jade Empire and solved the problem at the school with two masters. It was basically a series of easy battles, and a choice to side with the good master or the evil one. I chose the good one, of course. There was another minor twist to the whole thing, but I'll avoid specifics in case someone else here plays the game later.

I also played around with the Arena a little bit. It's basically just a more lengthy version of the dueling ring in KOTOR. The loading times eliminate most of the fun, though.

Got another party member, and learned some new info that progressed the story. I think I have to infiltrate this evil group... reminds me of the Sith infiltration thing in KOTOR 1. I'll probably have the chance to actually go along with their training or just pretend. This game actually might be worth going through again as an evil character.

Beat Erika.

My Nidoqueen is kicking so much ass. I taught her Aerial Ace, and she made salads out of all those Grass Pokemon.

Need to go through the Rocket Game Corner now.

I was trying to get that Games on Demand thing from Comcast to work, and I think I figured out the problem I was having. At first, it downloads enough for the game to run (around 500MB) but then continues to download the rest while you play. But it seems the constant hard drive access slows down some games, like with Serious Sam 2. You can apparently wait until the entire game is downloaded before you play, which seems the more logical choice.

Oh, I just found out something about Harvest Moon 64! It doesn't matter if you "date" other women (ie, talk to them, bring them presents, do errands for them, dance with them at the fair, etc.) I was afraid that if I did that, Maria might get jealous and not marry me or something like that. But the only requirements for marrying someone are to get their heart meter all the way to pink and then use the Blue Feather on them (this is what you did in the SNES game, too). It doesn't matter what your rating is with the other women, and in fact, I've heard it's better to make friends with the other women, because you'll get more items and stuff. I'm normally the kind who doesn't want game spoilers, but I am glad I found out about that because now I don't have to worry about avoiding the other women like the plague.

That's one of the few problems I have with this game. It's a bit unstructured (though not as unstructured as some other sim games I've played, like Overlord or SimCity), but it's unstructured enough that unless you look up a FAQ (or talk with people who have thoroughly played the game), there's a lot you won't know to do unless you just experiment and "try everything", and "trying everything" would take forever in a game like this.

The only gaming I've done in the past week or so was Quake III. I've been playing a few online matches every day. I found a server with some good players and a good Ping, so I've been playing there. I usually finish last, or close to it. In a game where there's 6 people (we play to 35 frags), it usually looks like this:

1st: 35
2nd: 30
3rd: 17
4th: 15
5th: 13
6th: 7

I think I'm getting better, though. I've been getting into double digits. Games with my advisor are also getting close. About 2 months ago, he was always beating me like 20-3. The other day I beat him 20-18, and in the subsequent game I only lost by 3. Yesterday, he beat me 20-15, 20-17, and 20-18. It was on a new map, and the more familar I got with it, the closer the games were.

CB007, now that you have cable, you should reinstall Quake III and meet me in that server some afternoon.

Yeah, I reinstalled it and gave it a try earlier.

It's much better with cable, but I'm not so good anymore. Well, actually, it's not that I ever was especially good in the first place, but I'm terrible now. I used to get somewhat decent scores considering the connection speed and the fact that I didn't practice that much (In games of 10 people, I was pleased to finish somewhere in the middle), but I just couldn't get get anywhere today.

Maybe I'll try playing for a little bit every day until I feel comfortable with the game again, then we could give that a try sometime.

In Jade Empire, I finished a couple of minor, but slightly time consuming side quests. The thing I'm working on now is another sidequest, but more complicated, and I was too tired to deal with it.

Since it no longer takes 9 hours, I downloaded a couple of game demos. Sacred and Rayman 3.

Sacred really felt like Diablo for the few minutes I played it. Rayman 3 was interesting, except that controlling it with the keyboard was a little tough. Both are games that I would consider buying sometime for the right price.

I decided not to deal with that Games on Demand thing, I just didn't like how it works.

Cool. FO's playing Harvest Moon 64 and I'm playing the SNES Harvest Moon. I just made it to the Star Night Festival. I've been dating Ann.

The talk about Magi Nation from that other topic got me interested in getting back on it. The only reason I stopped in the first place was because I was totally paranoid about missing the Ormagon's first step (whoever the hell came up with this process needs to be drug out into the street and beaten with mushrooms).

Beat Ogar, but I need to get some more rings made. I've got two monsters doing all the fighting, and as a result they're a bit overleveled.

And I did get the Ormagon's first step accomplished. Wee!

Bah, I was trying to keep all my posts in just one progress topic, but I mixed them up. Anyway, my most recent progress:

I tried a free trial of Everquest to see what it was like. Terrible, terrible experience. It's like they do the worst possible job of trying to get you to keep playing. The tutorial is slow paced, with an annoying voice actor, and I had a glitch where it kept trying to repeat one lesson over and over.

The screen is cluttered with menus, controls are awkward... I never even got to the point where I might have seen other players.

Maybe I'll see how Ragnarok online is. It's got a trial, too.

I also watched Natural Born Killers, finally. I just couldn't get motivated to start it, but once I did, I found it interesting. Seeing the alternate ending on the DVD was neat. I could easily imagine that being the real ending...

Edit: And I wanted to add that I did try Ragnarok, and I like the feel of it quite a bit, based on the tutorial, graphics, interface, etc. Not sure if it's something I'd want to pay for on a monthly basis, but time will tell. I've got 14 days to use it.

Okay, I'm giving this games on demand thing one more try. It seems to be working great with Unreal Tournament. So I'll pick a game and let it download the whole thing before I start playing (I'd say 45-50 minutes each for many of the games).

They've got some strategy titles I'd like to try, one of the new Myst games, Rayman 3, some first person shooters, and other misc. stuff.

I got the Funcicide, and am about to tackle the third Shadow Geyser.

I love how Tony said he could barley hold 300 animite, yet the counter goes up to 999 (which I had maxed out when I came to the ferryman and read that).

oh i've heard alot 'bout Ragnarok Online... it's full of annoying teenaged groupies and simpletons. i think you'll fit right in! i also heard that it actually attracts real-life hot chicks(you're more likely to find single-moms with issues on EQ).

It's a little boring so far. You can't pick your first class until you level up quite a bit, and that takes a pretty long time. Also, you get killed instantly by random enemies if you leave the starting area at a low level. So it's either fight enemies you can't lose to or enemies you can't defeat.

And I can't figure out how to join a party without pestering people like an idiot...

I've been trying every free trial I can during the last couple of days... so I gave Dark Age of Camelot a try. It looked promising in general when I started it. Problem is that my computer can't even come close to handling it. Framerate was so low it was like a slideshow, and it crashed 3 times. Oh well, I'm no poorer for it.

I've wanted to play a MMORPG for years, but I'm not having much luck so far. At least Ragnarok is playable. Everquest... ugh, no way in hell would I ever try that again.

And Camelot just doesn't work. World of Warcraft gets great reviews, but I'm sure I couldn't run that. And there's no free trial/free download anyway. I wouldn't pay $50 just to see if it would work.
