CB007 has been playing lots of FF12, Crawl feels uninspired, Codie's playing something (I can't remember what), I'm on my second playthrough of TotA, and I'm at Oni hotsprings on a playthrough of Summon Night swordcraft story 2.

And I'm watching some DBZ movie. Goku is of course, yelling loudly.

I keep getting sent back to the forum listing page when I reply to stuff. It works the second time.

Anyway, I played through all the R-Type games today, finished them all on one credit on my first try. I still wanted something to play, so then I went through all the Contras without losing a life.

Last, I played SMB2 but I can't make it past the Tweeters in the first stage. it took me about 20 lives just to get through the door after you fall at the beginning.

Alright, now that you've started.

Today I played some Samurai Warriors 2, but my Musashi couldn't beat the first peon. I must have died 49836893 times to that same peon. I then started playing Sword of Mana, and I thorughly enjoyed it. Best rpg ever. And then I played 402 matches of the greatest fighting game ever, mortal kombat.

I played through Paper Mario and it has the best soundtrack ever. Way beyond the work of Nobuo Uematsu, Yasunori Mitsuda, John Williams, Ludwig Von Beethoven, and Warren Zevon combined.

I discovered that I kick ass at first person shooters and fighting games, that beatemups have the best good-to-bad game ratio of any genre, and that bullet hell shooters are the only kind of shooters worth playing. Oh, and I must have had wax in my ears most of my life, because now I can tell that old game music really is just blips and bloops. I don't know why I was imagining that I heard actual melodies there.

I was playing through my collection of M-Rated shooters, since those are the only games I'd ever play. Y'know, the one with lots of blood, half-nekad women, and teh oober 1337 grafix??? Yeah, those are the only acceptable games. Not all those gay games that are about being fun instead of having gud grafix.

And then I watched Along Came Polly.

And I liked it.

I'm juggling MDK2 and Arcana.

MDK2 sucks because the control stick controls the camera instead of the characters. Arcana sucks because it wasn't made by Square.

You mean like Earthbound? That game had no personality.

Last night I saw James playing Chrono Trigger and he was about to beat the final boss when I said, "Wut, do u liek those grafix?" When he was done he asked if he could borrow the Playstation and I said no, this system is for mature gamers, go play with your 16-bit toys. Then I played Final Fantasy 7 straight on until I got to the Aeris death scene and I cried for 3-1/2 hours.

Later on I tried playing Contra, but I couldn't get past the first level without the 30-life code.

Nobody has ever beaten that game without the 30 life code. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

To be honest I'm doubtful that it can be beaten at all, even with the 30 life code.

Hah! And while you were busy bawling your eyes out over that scene, I picked up your game and REVIVED Aeris and I also found the Triforce in Ocarina of Time, fought Akuma in Resident Evil, revived General Leo in FF6, and beat the Sega Genesis version of Star Fox.

Then I added 253 more pieces of nude fanart (251 of which are mine) to my Lara Croft Shrine.

Final Fantasy 12 is so much better than Enchanted Arms and well, all RPG's. Who wants to bother controlling a battle when you can just let the AI do it? If you demand some input, you can always give a time consuming set of IF/THEN scenarios to them to carry out, and sometimes they might even get it right. It's so awesome.

And characters that you have an attachment to or interest in? Those went out with 16 bit toys. This is where it's at. And using MMORPG rules for offline games is the future of RPG's. Clearly, it's totally realistic for the animals you kill to spontaneously drop valuable parts of their bodies for you to sell after they die. Much better than the ridiculous gold and item drops of yesteryear.

Another thing I love about FF12 is that with virtually every time you save, the game warns you that this part is gonna be pretty impossible, so you might want to make another save file. I've got 20 files and I'm LOVING IT!

The best part of FF12 is the Libra technique. It's the only way to get through an area, because otherwise traps are invisible and enemy data is unavailable. Thank God Square didn't just have this enabled by default. They instead made things more interactive by forcing you to constantly turn it back on every time it wears off, even though using it doesn't cost any MP. I love you, Square, and I'm going to happily spend five hundred and ninety nine US dollars for a PS3 Computer Entertainment System (videogames are for kids, LOL) and get Final Fantasy Thirteen.

The Aeris death scene ain't got nothin' on Ruben's death scene in Legend of Mana. When that steam started popping out of that mouse's ears, I was admitted to the hospital two hours later with severe dehydration.

MDK2 is the worst game ever. It's no fun to get killed. A boss is only fun if you beat it on your first try. And games should on be fun, so games should have bosses you beat on your first try! So imagine how unfun it is to beat a boss on your fifteenth!

Shadow of the Colossus truly IS the only game ever that's art! Sure, the plot feels more like an excuse to make giant bosses than somebody's attempt at something emotional, and there's no act structure, and it's impossible to feel for the hero's plight because he has virtually no personality, and the ending is a bad acid trip if I've ever seen one, and the camera totally sucks, and the colossi pose no real threat because of the healing, and the only one that poses any real threat is a case of Record of Lodoss War Syndrome, and the music is only memorable because you're listening to the same damn song over and over for an hour, and it's ugly, but some jackass said it was art so that makes it the greatest game ever!

flOw is such an awesome game. Well, more of an experience really. It's so relaxing to stare at your creature and move it around the screen and look at all the pretty colors. It's almost as fun as starting at a lava lamp.

Oblivion kinda sucks, though. There's all these menus and places to go to and sometimes you have to remember things. It just makes me miss all the pretty colors. It's also such a pain having to use the joysticks again after being able to tilt my whole controller in the direction I want my character to go.

I played through all the Zelda games backwards. Starting with Twilight Princess and all the way down to The Legend of Zelda. I also actually PLAYED them backwards. I started by watching the ending scenes, then played the last dungeon and worked my way through the rest in reverse order until the opening cinema rolled.

I just played River City Ransom. Wow, is that a great game. It manages to incorporate the best elements of both RPG's (you spend the majority of the game leveling up!) and beat 'em ups (you're freed from the distractions of level design), thereby eluding any genre classification. And as we learned from Wikipedia and ICO, any game that does not conform to any genre has transcended the doldrums of commercialization and ascended into the realm of art.

...unlike those damn copycat games like Mario 3.

I played Yoshi's Story and beat it on my first try and it sucked. But then I went back and did all the melon challenges and other crazy things like try to beat it without taking a hit and without sneezing the alphabet backwards and now it's the greatest game ever!!!!

I also stacked 22 Game Genies on my copy of Pokemon Blue and that damn truck near the SS Anne FINALLY tipped over. Turns out Mew wasn't under there, but the SUPER SECRET ULTRA RARE HOLOGRAMOMEGA was, and now I'm the only gamer in the world who has it!!! So fuck you, you ain't gettin any till someone pays me 42 mil to dump my rare Japanese-only ROM of Yaku Baku Booboo Girls Deluxe Megafighter XLS! PS. It's the best game ever because no one else has heard of it or played it.

I beat Plok and while only 16-bit the designers still managed to implement a wonderful aural complement to the on-screen carnage. While the graphics don't hold up nearly as well in this day and age and some of the game's early 2D visuals do look a bit crusty now, the game is shockingly pleasant to look at.

But game standards have evolved by leaps and bounds since 1993, so when it becomes clear what current graphics are capable of, gamers won't really fancy playing it anymore.

The best part of Super Paper Mario was how you got to backtrack. For an RPG, length is the most important part, and adding those extra hours to the clock was really important to me. I also liked how the whole last level featured pitch blackness with bright white lines instead of color. Yeah, it hurts your eyes, but it's so much more artistic that way.

I also played some more Star Fox 64. That voice acting... why am I experiencing this? They should have sent a poet.

Thousand Year Door... I love how Mario yells every time he makes a jump. Mario sounds like he's having fun bouncing around and it cheers me up so much that I have more fun, too.

I've been playing Might & Magic and the graphics are pleasant to look at, in spite of their EXTREEEEME age. But WTF, this game isn't even a real RPG because there's no story! I guess they only make good games for the Playstation Playstation2 Playstation3.

Galaxy Angel:Eternal Lovers
now that i've completed the game twice with 2 different routes(mint & forte), i wonder if there's any incentive to replay the same route. maybe if i choose al the really bad answers or half of the bad answers, i get to see a different "Fin" wallpaper at the very end , after the credits roll. can't seem to find a single FAQ or walkthrough for the game. the best i found was its wiki entry and a forum for "japanese games which nobody plays". even that rather cringe-worthy forum, which attracts guys who have an unhealthy obsession with anime girls, hardly mentioned it. galaxy angel really is obscure outside of japan.

btw, i found the flight sim game. i have to complete the game at least once to access it. and then, i can only fully control the "frame" of the chick whose route i chose. i can only choose to play the "score attack" bonus game using the normal battle engine, but that's not so much fun. suppose to try to get the highest score and best timing. pretty much just replaying all the missions in the game, except i'm not allowed to save. quitting while on a mission seems to autosave your position. getting killed and quitting also seems to autosave, but not always. in any case, if i start a new game w/o loading a previous autosave, or play with a different route/frame, i lose my autosave. so far, i haven't been able to complete all the missions( thus getting my score into the hall of fame) because my PC keep overheating and restarting. ah, i want savepoints. and i can't get pass the 5th or 6th misson in flight sim mode, because in that mode, i still have to command the other ships/frames(like in the normal RTS mode), while in the cockpit of a frame. hard to multi-task while i'm trying to aim. sucks that i can't give any of the normal commands to the frame i'm piloting while in that mode.

story-wise, chitose's route is rather funny. in every route, there's a point where the chosen one(girlfriend) gets some kinda weird ailment after having her frame sabotaged. mint starts broadbasting her thoughts to everyone on board the flagship(i was hoping she would mindblast people, but this isn't the upcoming lonewolf game). forte develops a fear for guns. chitose forgets she's suppose to be in love with taku(the main character and commander) and think she's in love with lester(the 2nd in command). ironically ,lester ought to be her lover, since he's the embodiment of the perfect soldier, something she inspires to be. she probably wished taku the PR gigolo would be more like him. these parodies of stereotypes mixed in with a plot trying to act all serious and gloomy, just makes me wanna laugh out loud. chitose as a character, reminds me too much of a guy friend who really really admires me. mildy disturbing.

well, one really good thing i have to say is: chitose's theme song was strangely moving. reminds me of a japanese drama series which i don't remember the name of. mayhaps something with a change & aska theme song? nono, the rhythm sounds a hell lot like old cheesy fuquan love ballads. i probably should look for the midi or record a lousy mp3 of it... I did it.

ok. should start a real progress thread or talk about ultima underworld I & II endlessly?

ok... how about this... i burned the contents of my complete Ultima 7 CD onto one of those black-dyed CDRs which are suppose to last for at least 10 years w/o suffering from the fabled "CD Rot", instead of actually completing U7(including serpent isle and the add-ons) w/o cheating.
